Established in 1954, the Deer Path Art League is a not-for-profit organization located in the heart of Lake Forest, Illinois. The mission of the Deer Path Art League is to spark, nurture and enhance creativity and promote community interest in the visual arts.
The Art Fair on the Square is the Deer Path Art League’s signature event and our gift to the community. The Art Fair is a highly rated juried show that has become a cherished community event, drawing visitors from Chicago, Milwaukee, and over 22 suburban communities and attracting applications from hundreds of artists from around the country. The selected exhibitors work in a variety of disciplines, including ceramics, glass, graphics, printmaking, painting, and photography. We will celebrate our 69th Art Fair on the Square on Labor Day weekend, September 1-2 2024.
The Emerging Artist Exhibit is our annual event showcasing student artwork from the local schools and celebrating young artistic talent in our community. A selection of artwork from each school is chosen for the Mayoral Award, given to the recipients by the mayor of Lake Forest.
We have also been participating in the Lake Forest Station, a shop selling holiday gift items contributed by local non-profits, with sales distributed to these organizations. Artists who belong to the Deer Path Art League can sell their works through this avenue.
At our Annual Meeting in June, which was held at The Gallery in Lake Forest, we welcomed new members and honored artist Doris Volpe who has served the Deer Path Art League for more than 60 years, holding numerous Board positions and as a teacher of our art classes.
